FIRANGI SUPERSTAR
BARS & RESTAURANTS
Modern Indian - Singapore
Brand Design, Menu Design, Brand World Design
BRAND CHALLENGE
‘Firangi Superstar is less like a restaurant, more like a cinematic journey through India. Magic at every turn. The venue feels like a series of film sets as you travel from room to room, each one vibrantly different from the other.
The food is progressive Indian, Chef Thiru leaves his post at Wolfgang Puck’s legendary Spago to mix his formal training with the flavors he grew up with, rooted in tradition, but not in a way you’ve seen before. This is not India; this is something entirely different, yet somehow seductively familiar.
Help us make Firangi Superstar feel like a journey to another world. From branding to menus and everything in between.’
THE FANTASTICAL
DESIGN SOLUTION
Working with the masterminds from Firangi pre-restaurant build, we collaboratively created a theme for each of the four rooms, resulting in four genius snippets of India:
The Officers Club
The Railway Room
The Elephant Palace
The Jungle Lodge
Allowing each room to take on its own personality, accentuating the concept through both interior design and graphic design.

The brand mark itself obviously needed to incorporate fanciful elements from each of the four fantastical room concepts.
Now you may know that India isn’t known for its minimal approach or neutral colour palette and I wanted to honour that by creating an over embellished, hand drawn brand mark full of chaotic Indian vibes, the railway taking centre stage, the elephant, jungle lodge and officers club all holding the centre piece. Overall a brand bursting with life and whimsical details from each of the rooms - spot the pocket watch!
Upon arrival each guest receives their own leather bound itinerary including:
The Firangi Superstar Newspaper (Food Menu)
The G&T Express Train Tickets (Gin Menu)
The Poison Manuscript (Cocktail Menu)
’The Superstar of India’ Newspaper takes snippets of articles found in the British newspaper archive creating a paper backdrop from yesteryear of real, I’ll repeat that for the humans in the back, REAL stories that interlink with each of the four wonderfully embellished rooms.
The G&T Express is a take on old indian train tickets. Cleverly designed citing the following:
Station: Relates to the origin of each individual gin.
Passenger: The Gin.
Platform: The Tonic.
Travelling with: The Garnish.
And to top it off the number of botanicals is cited as the ticket number - Genius, even if I do say so myself.
The Poison Manuscript is a concoction of typed and handwritten notes from the masterminds behind the cocktails. The other beverages feature evocative blurbs bringing us right back to the heart of Firangi Superstars crazy, fantastical, whimsey, coo coo, nuts tone of voice.
