THE BRAND CHALLENGE
‘English and Welsh wines are in such an interesting place right now - not being subject to strict rules around viticulture and winemaking. There is a huge opportunity to really explore and create something different.
As I’m not tied to a specific vineyard there is the flexibility each year to use different grapes from new places to make varied and interesting wines. My approach in the cellar is simple: do as little as possible! As a winemaker, I don’t want to interfere if I don’t have to - the less intervention in the cellar, the more honest the wines will be to the grapes and the places they were grown. I need help translating this into the brand identity and packaging, I'm looking for something that can grow and develop with the project, the grapes and I.’
THE DELICIOUS
DESIGN SOLUTION
After recovering from getting a little squiffy on the Leornian Wine samples we so kindly received, we got to creating a clean brand identity for Leornian wines emphasizing and echoing words from James - Founder and wine maker;
‘allow the grapes to do the work’
this statement rang true throughout the creation of the brand and the packaging for Leornian Wines.
When designing the packaging, we created a clear system - each wine has its own typeface and each variety a different Leornian stamp placement and its own colour; resonating with the corresponding flavour profile. This coherent approach not only establishes strong brand recognition but also enables simple product navigation.
We proudly but quietly shout about the origin of the British grapes and the methods taken to create each mouth watering tipple.
The back of pack illustrates a map of the location from where the grapes were picked and a couple of hand written notes on how the wine was created. This approach really shows off just how real and honest the wines are. We can’t recommend them enough, especially the twenty twenty two Solaris!
